Background

Sport South East, formerly known as the South East Sports Development Committee (SESDC), is a partnership between the five local authority areas of Ards, Castlereagh, Down, Lisburn and North Down; the South Eastern Education & Library Board; Sport Northern Ireland, formerly the Sports Council of NI; Coaching NI; and the Northern Ireland Sports Forum.
Sport South East are responsible for the strategic development of sport in the SE area that is coordinated regionally and delivered locally and comprises four main work areas.
SE Participation & Talent Identification Programme: Involves 600+ young people from schools and sports clubs within the SE area
Cross Country Challenge: 850+ P6 and P7 children from schools in the SEELB area take part in local trials within each council area and the winning schools and individuals progress to the Regional & National Cross Country Challenge Finals
SE Seals Multi Skills Clubs: 10 Multi Skill Clubs are in operation at leisure and community centres across the SE, aimed at involving more 5-9 year olds in physical activity and to improve their physical literacy skills in a fun, safe and non-sport specific environment.
Coach Education and Training Programme: Delivering an all-inclusive, diverse sport specific and non-sport specific education and training programme aimed at creating a sporting workforce of qualified coaches, administrators, teachers, officials and office bearers. |
